It had already commenced the manufacture of Transmission and Terminal Equipment Group (TTG) accessories in 1968 and polarized telegraphic relays in 1970.

All the different types of products are effectively networked for both voice and data communication and are in line with the relevant IEC recommendations.

Today most of the power utilities, apart from having Transmission and Terminal Equipment networks, have different communication networks viz., BRI, PRI, Digital Microwave, Fiber etc. As a solution stream, BPL Telecom integrates all the different types of communication media with the existing Transmission and Terminal Equipment network using its latest state-of-the-art digital switch. This ensures that the entire communication network of the Power utility is effectively and efficiently utilized.

By using DSP techniques for the Transmission and Terminal Equipment ensures user-friendly commissioning techniques and easy maintenance. POWER LINE CARRIER COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

The Power line Carrier System enables Power Utilities to reach the remote areas where telephone cables don’t reach. It is fully integrated, voice/data communication system capable of supporting the most demanding Power line networking environment for communication between electricity board sub-stations and locations.

The power and flexibility of the model 9505 system’s proven architecture has earned BPL a loyal following in Electricity Boards and Private Power Projects throughout India.  The latest IC version system provides single or multiplexed voice grade channels of transmitting speech or audio tones over high voltage transmission lines and insulated static lines.  The transmitted audio tones can be used for tele-metering supervisory control, protective relying data and for other purposes.

The equipment can be configured for “speech-plus” operation (simultaneous transmission of speech and audio tones).  When used for data one, each channel can carry up to twenty four 50 baud telegraphic/data channels or a smaller number of channels at higher baud rates.  Elements of the system may also be used for transmission over cable, open-wire lines, and radio multiplex applications.

This is a single-side-band (SSB) carrier system that uses the available frequency spectrum more efficiently than all other modulation techniques.  Each terminal is available as either a single or twin channel unit.  Each channel provides a voice-grade circuit over the transmission medium, and occupies a separate KHz band in either direction of transmission.

Model 9505 terminals can be supplied with RF power output of 10, 20 or 40 watt PEP.  The modules and assemblies employ proven design techniques to achieve low power consumption, improved reliability and high performance.  Test jacks and operator controls are placed along the front edge of each module for ease of measurements and critical adjustments whenever necessary.

 

LINE TRAPS

High voltage transmission line are used for the transmission of carrier signals between 30KHz to 50KHz for Speech, Data, and Protection signals. Line traps are used to prevent the loss of these high frequency signals to the sub-station side. The Line Traps are connected in series to the Transmission line and are designed to carry the rated power frequency current, as well as to withstand the substation fault currents.

 

COUPLING DEVICE

The 650W Coupling Device comprising of coupling filters and protective devices is used to couple the PLCC terminals onto the high voltage transmission line. The device is purely passive and is inserted between the low voltage terminals of the coupling capacitor and the co-axial connection to the carrier terminal. The coupling filter,  together with the coupling capacitor forms T section band pass filter with multi band selections.

 

 

DIGITAL PROTECTION SIGNALING  EQUIPMENT

Tele-protection equipment transmits the trip signal from the protection equipment in power station and substations. Tele-protection links using power line carrier channels are the most economical way of performing all the tasks associated with transmitting tripping signals. Security, dependability and transmission time are the important characteristics of any Tele-protection equipment. Interface on the communication channels should neither be interpreted as a trip command (security) nor in admissibly delay the transmission of genuine trip commands (Dependability and Txn time).

DC42 PRE series has been designed to provide a modular building block approach to the Tele-protection equipment. This system offers high degree of security, dependability and speed of response. It can detect a valid trip during an instantaneous drop in the signal level as much as 20dB while at the same time, maintaining a relatively high degree of security.

The equipment is a completely self contained system using frequency shift keying principles. DSP, Microcontroller and other CMOS integrated circuits are extensively used in this equipment to achieve high noise immunity and low power consumption. In this series the old mechanical counters are replaced and the numbers of modules are minimized with out effecting the performance and efficiency. 

In digital Coupler Digital Signal Processing techniques are used for transmission, reception and validation of signals. This Single Chip solution helps to reduce the total number of cards and also ensures secure and dependable operation with short transmission times.

 

PROTECTION SIGNALING  EQUIPMENT

MDX-50 DIGITAL EPABX

BPL MDX-50 is used to form private networks or PLCC type of networks with similar type of exchanges. This system comes with a proven digital non-blocking technology. The MDX-50 is  cost effective high performance communication system.

MDX-50, a digital EPABX, built around the 8-bit microprocessor Z80A, employs TDM-PCM technology with a fully non-blocking switching network. High system reliability is insured by automatic on-line diagnostics. The software is highly structured and a clear interface exists between hardware and software. It can be connected to P&T central office trunk. It can support E&M.

 

SIGMA INDX

BPL Sigma INDX - is  designed for multiple networks applications. This system has a fully integrated advanced telecommunication platform, and comes with a proven digital non-blocking technology. The sigma INDX offers speed, capacity and cost effective high performance communication system. Built on the Universal Port Architecture, the system gives a choice for any slot to be used as a line, trunk or common service unit for voice & data transmission.

The sigma INDX 250/150 is a Digital Switching system that uses PCM-TDM technology integrating voice, data and video transmission on a single platform. Based on 32 bit microprocessor, the system is capable of handling high traffic throughput. It can be connected to P&T central office trunk. It can support E&M, and Loop type tie lines.
